Timeline
1903 - The Beaux Arts style Free Public Carnegie Library building is built in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
September 6, 1904 - The library opens to the public.
1904 to 1997 - The public library serves the people of Council Bluff Iowa but the need for a more modern facility arose.
1997 - The new Council Bluffs Public Library opened to the public.
1997 - 2003 - Funding was raised to remodel the former Carnegie public library building and turn it into the Union Pacific Railroad Museum.
May 10, 2003 - The new Union Pacific Railroad Museum opens in the former library building.
Present Day - The former library building continues to serve as the railroad museum.
