Warrior Hotel, New Life and New Future

In early 2019 plans were unveiled to bring the Warrior Hotel back to life. Developers have since started construction and restoration on the 89 year old building to turn it back into a functioning hotel with many luxury features. Along with retoring the Warrior Hotel Building, it's neighbor to the west, the Davidson Building is also being renovated and restored to be part of the new hotel. Pnce complete the new hotel will have a bowling alley and swimming pool in the basement, a spa on the main floor. The ball room wil be restored back to its original beauty on the 1st floor with rooms ranging from luxury suites to standard rooms on the upper floors. The ground floor will host retail space for small businesses. The top floors will have apartments. The new hotel will be part of the Marriot Hotel Autograph Collection of hotels. The Autograph Collection are historic buildings, some were originally hotels, that are restored to their original beauty and historic value and turned back into a functioning hotel. The Warrior will be complete and opened as a new hotel in the summer of 2020.

Carnegie Libraries: Council Bluffs

Timeline

1903 - The Beaux Arts style Free Public Carnegie Library building is built in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

September 6, 1904 - The library opens to the public.

1904 to 1997 - The public library serves the people of Council Bluff Iowa but the need for a more modern facility arose.

1997 - The new Council Bluffs Public Library opened to the public.

1997 - 2003 - Funding was raised to remodel the former Carnegie public library building and turn it into the Union Pacific Railroad Museum.

May 10, 2003 - The new Union Pacific Railroad Museum opens in the former library building.

Present Day - The former library building continues to serve as the railroad museum.
