Tyson Geese

In a lot of cities, towns, parks, farms, and other areas there are ponds and lakes that Canadian geese return to every year to use as their nesting grounds. Most of these ponds and lakes are natural. Some are man made, as is the pond at the Tyson Fresh Meats Headquarters in Dakota Dunes, SD. Since it was built geese have returned here year after year to nest, mate and raise their young until they fly south for the winter.

These geese can be very temperamental and aggressive as this blog author found out. They have been known to attack people who get too close to them, their nests and especially their young. They do back down if you face them. One of the photos is of a goose who flew at the blog author but turned the other direction when he turned around to face the goose and the author was fortunate enough to get a good photo of the goose while in flight and very close. The other photos are of the geese on their nests, challenging each other and with their young.
