Sioux City History & Culture by Bicycle Part 13: Veterans Memorial Parks

There are 2 Veterans Memorial Parks in the immediate area that I know of. One in Sioux City & one in South Sioux City, Nebraska. They both do a very good job of honoring America's Veterans from all branches of military service. To all Military Veterans you have my thanks for the freedom you have provided for me & all Americans.

The Veterans Memorial Park in Sioux City is right along the Perry Creek Trail on the western edge of downtown.

The park in South Sioux City is just with the city limits along Dakota Ave. You can get to it by bicycle via the pedestrian/bicycle path on the Veterans Memorial Bridge, then turn right go around under the bridge to a side street to easily get to the park. If interested in visiting by bike let me know & I'll help you plot a good safe route to get to it.

South Sioux City has also hosted the scaled down version of the Vietnam Memorial Wall. The one that travels around the country. Eventually South Sioux will be the permenant home of the current travelling wall but I do not know when. When it is put in place I will visit it via bike, take photo's & post it here in the blog.

The first set of pics. are from Sioux City & the 2nd are from South Sioux City.
