Private Collection: 1971 Sunoco Grand Opening Celebration promotion Chicago Cubs Collector Pins

This set of 1971 Chicago Cubs collector pins were part of a promotion for Sunoco gas stations. The collection came in a set of 9 pins in May of 1971.

The person who originally collected this set was a Chicago White Sox fan and lived in LaSalle/Peru, Illinois. She collected them for her son who was a chigaco Cubs fan but lived in Rockford, Michigan at the time and were not available for him to purchase in the 1970's.

He eventually moved to central Iowa where they remained in his collection. When he passed away in 2009 they were inherited by his daughter who was born in November of 1971. The pins are now in a private collection in NW Iowa.

Corner Bar Approved? The Grill at Hy-Vee Mainstreet, Load'er Up Dog, Taste Test 2

Taste tested the Load'er Up Dog from the Hy-Vee Mainstreet Grill for a second time. The first was a to go order. It was possible the time it took to consume the chili dog may have affected the taste and the chili dog was not as hot and fresh as if it were consumed at the establishment that prepared it.

Even so this chili dog is STILL NOT Corner Bar approved.

This smoked sausage is made for Johnsonville Foods for self service kiosks such as Company Kitchen. This one is in a soft baked roll. The taste is nothing like a smoked sausage should taste.
