Sioux City History and Culture by Bicycle Part 73: Hose Company No. 1, Hook and Ladder No. 1

Sioux City has a long, proud history with the fire department. The department started when Sioux City was founded in the mid 1800's. Some of the old fire station houses still stand today and are being used by provate businesses. One such building is the old Hose Company No. 1 or Hook and Ladder Company No. 1. It operated from 1889 to 1922 as a fire station. It is located at 408 Water Street and is now a private business.
