This blog is about historical and cultural sites, places and events all over the world visited by bicycle or that could be visited by bicycle. It is to show that a motor vehicle does not always have to be used and it is often better to visit these places by bicycle.

Sioux City Historuy and Culture by Bicycle Part 71: Lessenich Building
I do not know a Lot about the Lessenich Building. I believe it was named after John Lessenich who was responsible for building the old chicago House Hotel in the early 1900's. Here is some info. about the Chicago House: The first hotel building built by John J. Lessenich was built in 1867. This was burned in 1881, and the second was built in that year. The present building of the Chicago House was built in 1905. All of these have been built by Mr. Lessenich, who with Mr. Federman, are operators of the Chicago House which is the oldest hotel in the city under same name and management. The Lessenich Building is now the Lessenich Apartments, located on 5th and Pearl Streets across from the Malone Block it is a beautiful building still in use today. Photo's:
