Private Collection: 1960's Kodak Brownie Fun Saver Movie f/2.7 8mm Movie Camera

This 1960's Kodak Brownie Fun Saver Movie f/2.7 8mm Movie Camera was produced from 1963 to 1968. This 8mm camera was used to make home movies. It works by turning a crank which winds up a spring and pushing the button on the front of the camera to release the spring which opens and closes the shutter as the blank film passes by the lens and records what ever the camera is pointed at. The camera has a built in light sensor. The single lens has a filter selector which allows the amateur videographer to select the best option for light conditions and distance to what he or she is recording using the individual labeled options. Once the film was used in the camera the videographer would take or send it to a lab to be developed and the 8mm home movie would be sent back to them but some could do so themselves.

Today amateur videographers simply use the built in digital camera on their smart phones to record home movies. The apps used automatically adjust for distance and light conditions on digital cameras.

This camera still works and 8mm film is still available to purchase to be developed at a photo/video processing lab.

This camera was purchased at a "junk" fair at a local county fair for $1.00 and is in a private collection in NW Iowa. the current owner is going to purchase film and record with the camera.
