Corner Bar Approved? Lally's Eatside Restaurant

Lally's Eastside Restaurant is a local favorite in Le Mars, Iowa. They prepare and serve from home style comfort food.

One of the items offered from their menu are Coney Dog's. Lally's Coney Dog' are certainly Corner Bar approved. The coney dog's are made with tavern meat and chopped onions. The tavern meat has diced dill pickle mixed into the meat.

Lally's Eastside Restaurant is also serves taverns or loose meat sandwiches. Since 2018 Lally's tavern's are now the standard by which all loss meat or tavern sandwiches are judged.

With the Lalley's Coney Dog you get the best of both.

Opa Time is a Greek restaurant that offers and serves a variety of Greek and American comfort food. One item they offer is chili dogs.

Schweddy's Hot Dog Shop opened their two locations at each end of 4th St. in Sioux City, Iowa in 2018.

The chili dogs that were taste tested were consumed in the hot dog shop at the west end of 4th St. Two were tested. Both meet the qualifications and criteria to be Corner Bar Approved.

Schweddy's has plenty of other hot dogs on the menu to be consumed. If they are half as good as the chili dogs the tester will be making more than one return trip.

On Friday April 22, 2016 this Tielke's Chili Dog 6" was taste tested. This chili dog was made for vending machines. There is also a regular hot dog made by Tielke's. Only one was consumed. Nothing was added and the chili dog was heated according to package instructions in a microwave. Over all this chili dog is not bad. Though it will likely be consumed again in the future this chili dog is NOT Corner Bar approved. It just did not quit meet the standards of the chili dogs made at the Corner Bar.

On Thursday March 24, 2016 the grilled dogs offered at Burger King on Hamilton Blvd in Sioux City, Iowa were taste tested. Both the classic and chili cheese dogs were consumed. Each grilled dog was ordered with everything on them that is offered on the menu. Both grilled dogs are Corner Bar Approved. Burger King has been flame grilling burgers since 1954. They have it down to a science for a franchise restaurant. Hopefully their grilled dogs will become a permanent part of their menu.

This new series is about an historic American food: hot dogs and chili dogs. In several cities across America there are hot dog vendors, restaurants and establishments that serve this iconic food.

This series will rate several hot dogs and chili dogs served by several vendors, restaurants and establishments. The criteria is they have to be commercially prepared, grilled, heated, cooked, steamed and even fried by a restaurant, vendor, food truck/trailer even a stand alone hot dog cart is acceptable. The dogs can even be provided by a self serve market or vending machines where the consumer has to heat it up. The dogs cannot be not purchased from a grocery store and prepared at home.

There is a standard by which the hot dogs and chili dogs are measured. That is the hot dogs and chili dogs at the Corner Bar in Rockford Michigan. While there are no other hot dogs or chili dogs like what is served at the Corner Bar there may be some that come very close and meet the standard. The rating is very simple a hot dog and chili dog taste tested is either Corner Bar approved or it is not. If it is not that particular hot dog or chili dog will never be consumed again by the tester who is also the author of this blog. The taste testing is largely based on the authors opinion and the only way for others to know for sure is to actually go to the Corner Bar in Rockford, Michigan and enjoy one of their delicious hot dogs and chili dogs.
