Spanish-American War Trophy Cannon

This 9cm breach-loading rifle was captured in 1898 at the Battle of Santiago, Cuba. It was brought to Iowa in 1901 through the efforts of the Kinsman Post, Grand Army of the Republic. It now stands as a Spanish-American War Trophy Cannon that is placed at the head of the west stairway to the Iowa Capitol building in Des Moines and is part of the Monuments and Memorials Tour.
