Sculpt Siouxland

For the past 7 years along 4th St. in downtown Sioux City there has been a sculpture project called Sculpt Siouxland. The artists, from Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota and Minnesota are sponsored by various businesses in and around Sioux City to design and build a sculpture to be on public display for a period of time on 4th St. After displayed publicly for about a year the sculpture's are either sent to the art center for display, purchased by the sponsor to be on display at their place of business or sold to a private collector.

Here is the original post; Sioux City History & Culture by Bicycle Part 1: Sculpt Siouxland Since the original post there have been new statues added as part of the Sculpt Siouxland project. The new statues were put in place in the last couple of months. As of right now there are no name plates with the statues so I do not know what they are called. When I have the info. I will post another update. For now here are the photo's of the new statues.;

There are 2 sculptures I did not add the first time. One was incomplete & the other was not there.

Here are the pics of the 2 pieces I did not have before:

Sioux City History & Culture by Bicycle Part 1: Sculpt Siouxland.

For about 4 blocks in Sioux City's downtown there are sculpted pieces along 4th st. The project is put on by Sculpt Siouxland partnered with Downtown Partners & Sioux City Growth Organization. Some of the pieces are no longer on display. The pieces are owned by the artists & are on display for one year unless they are a permanent piece.

I did a self guided walking & bicycle tour of these art pieces. I could have used my Jeep, but why? When walking & biking is much more fun & eco-friendly.

If anyone would like me to take them around to show them what Sioux City has to offer as far as culture please drop me a line & let me know when you'll be here. If I can I will be glad to meet you & we can ride our bikes to the differant locations around the city to see these wonderful sites.

This is only part 1 I have 4 other parts to post. Please stay tuned.
