Search for the Best Loose Meat - Hamilton Blvd Coney Island

The Coney Island on Hamilton Blvd is located in the Market Place Shopping Center. It was owned by the same people who own the downtown Coney Island, now it is under different ownership.

The people who own and operate it are nice and very friendly. The restaurant is clean and tidy.

However the loose meat sandwiches that were taste tested were awful. The bun on both sandwiches was very dry. The meat was very dark and was over cooked almost to the point of being burned. It was very dry and the texture was grainy. If there spices it was impossible to tell because it was so dry. The only thing that gave it any flavor at all was the condiments which included ketchup, mustard, pickle and onion.

The after affect of eating these sandwiches was not very pleasant. I had a very upset stomach and gastric distress from eating them. I almost could not them but decided to so the taste test would be fair.

The only reason the Hamilton Blvd Coney Island receives any points is because the restaurant was clean and the staff was very nice and friendly.

I was hoping to find this Coney Island uses a different recipe than the one downtown and comparing the two to see how close they are. But I'll never know because of how awful these sandwiches are. They were $3.25 each but they are not even worth $0.99 a piece.

With 25 total points I will not try the loose meat sandwiches again at Hamilton Blvd Coney Island. Not sure if I'll return for any of their other food items.

Search for the Best Loose Meat - Downtown Coney Island

The Coney Island in downtown Sioux City has been in the same location for 93 years. As a downtown lunch crowd favorite they serve hot dogs and loose meats. Over the decades celebrities have eaten lunch there. The owners have supported local events, sponsored youth sports teams and are community leaders. The owners also had a Coney Island on Hamilton Blvd in the Market Place Shopping Center. Their son operated it for some time but it is now under a different owner.

Inside this pleasant and clean eating establishment there are newspaper articles and photos on the walls that tell the history of Coney Island and the owners. There is both table and booth seating available.

Two loose meat sandwiches were taste tested. Perfect ratio of meat to bun with pickles, onions and mustard as condiments. There was a bit too much salt in the meat, otherwise the blend of spices was very good. The sandwiches can be ordered to go for carry out but are best consumed while sitting or standing still. Each sandwich was served on its own plate with a spoon. The tray they were served could have been cleaner as it had salt spilled all over it.

With a total score of 96 points I will continue to enjoy loose meats at this historic eatery.

Sioux City Coney Island

Since 1921 Sioux City's Coney Island has served people with great food. Owned and still operated by the Mageas Family it is still in its original location at 501 Nebraska St. in downtown Sioux City.

Over the years celebrities have enjoyed the delicious hot dogs, tenderloins and loose meat sandwiches the restaurant serves its patrons. The celebrities include, but are not limited to: Elvis Presley, Barry Goldwater, The Osmond's, and Laurence Welk.

Sioux City's Coney Island continues to serve their customers with great food and friendly service as they have for over 90 years.
