Across the United States at carnivals and fairs salt water taffy can be found. Most of the taffy is slowly pulled by a pulling machine. These taffy pulling machines mimic the hand pulling at the slow speed used to mix the taffy together and blend it so the colors and flavor is even throughout each piece. A lot of these machines are custom built by hand.
This is the machine used at the Clay County Fair in Spence, Iowa.
