This Ferromex EMD SD70A locomotive was observed in North Sioux City on May 30, 2019. It looks like it was switching cars to the small rail yard and/or sidings in North Sioux City.

This blog is about historical and cultural sites, places and events all over the world visited by bicycle or that could be visited by bicycle. It is to show that a motor vehicle does not always have to be used and it is often better to visit these places by bicycle.

Railfanning by Bicycle, 05/11/2019, Sioux City Railroad Museum, BNSF 6514 & CREX 1339 Locomotives
The day these photos were taken the author did not ride his bike to the museum, but he has on many occasions in the past.
These photos were taken at the Sioux City Railroad Museum.
The railroad museum used to be the Milwaukee Shops when the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad, also known as the Milwaukee Road, was in operation. The shop was where maintenance and repair were done to the locomotives, rail cars and equipment as necessary to keep them operating on the railroad.
Today the museum houses a great many pieces from railroad history including steam locomotive 1355, Old Iron Horse. A lot of the buildings are still standing and are in use today for purposes of the museum.
The BNSF rail line borders the museum property. The Dakota and Iowa Railroad also uses the same rail line. The rolling stock on display on the museum grounds are brought in on the BNSF line when necessary.
These BNSF 6514 and CREX 1339 locomotives were hauling a load into Sioux City:
