 Cologne Carnival (Kölner Karneval) is Germany’s largest and most famous carnival. From Fat Thursday through Ash Wednesday citizens and visitors dress up in costume and celebrate the so-called “crazy days.” Local carnival clubs show off their dance and music skills in numerous parades with elaborate floats and at official carnival balls (Sitzungen).
