As mentioned in this blog post: Sioux City History and Culture by Bicycle Part 104: Discovery Dogs The Discovery Dogs statues were created in celebration of the 200th Anniversary of the Lewis and Clark and the Corps of Discovery Expedition's journey across what is today the Western half of the United States.
This blogger has discovered the location of another Discovery Dog. He is located in South Sioux City, Nebraska at the new public library. His name is Dawg Gone Good Fishin'.
