Posted throughout the M.V. Sergeant Floyd are instructions for the crew to make it easier to do their jobs.







M.V. Sergeant Floyd: Ships Telephone

In addition to the ships horn, bell and voice tube the ships telephone is another means of on board communication.

The M.V. Sergeant Floyd has a bell that was used to signal the crew and others as to the time during a work shift and to signal other vessels on the water. The bell was controlled from the pilothouse.

Commands were sent to the engine room from the third deck pilothouse instructing the crew in the engine room what to set the engines to via the ships telegraph.

The pilothouse also had other equipment used by the crew including, but not limited to: radar, port "spotlight" control, signal bell, depth finder, wiper control, compass, ships telephone, rudder control, voice tube, bell signal, and starboard "spotlight" control.
