Sioux City History and Culture by Bicycle Part 55: Eaton Myluis House also known as the Palmer House

Palmer Mansion- built in the 1910’s era, the house was a northern “suburban” home along Jackson Street (across from Peirce Mansion above) and along Sioux City’s cable car line which ran from downtown out to 40th Street. Recently sold for only $449,000, the home was once the family home of the Palmer Family, owners of Sioux City based “Palmer Candies”, maker of the TwinBing Candy Bar. The home features a parlor or ballroom on the top floor that was used for entertaining and a carriage/servant quarters in back. It was built by August Mylius in 1894. You can see his initials in the 3 front dormers.
