M.V. Sergeant Floyd: Coming Ashore

The City of Sioux City purchased the M.V. Sergeant Floyd after learning of her retirement because of the historical connection she has to the area. In 1983 she was floated into the adjacent marina, dragged out of the water and hoisted onto her then new, permanent, dry dock home on the Sioux City River Front.

1976 was the 200th anniversary/birthday of the United States. As part of the year long celebration the M.V. Sergeant Floyd was decorated and sent on a Bicentennial Tour. This was her last official duty as a water vessel on the Missouri River. She was retired shortly after.
