Sioux City

Timeline:
1977 - Internationally world renowned sculptor John Henry creates the piece called Sioux City.
April 1978 - The sculpture was installed on Fourth Street, when the street served as pedestrian mall,  near Jackson Street.
2008 - The sculpture was removed when Fourth Street was converted into a roadway for motor vehicle traffic.
May 28, 2013 - The sculpture, Sioux City, is installed at its new location at the SE corner of Third and Pierce Streets.

Bicentennial Time Capsule

To commemorate the nations bicentennial the time capsule was sealed in July of 1977. There are 58 items, selected for their historical significance, that occupy the two cubic feet of space inside the capsule. It will be re-opened on July 4, 2075. The time capsule is located on the Iowa State Capitol Complex and is part of Monuments and Memorials tour.

John Henry: Sioux City

On display at the Sioux City Art Center, as part of the permanent collection, is painted aluminum sculpture by John Henry called: Sioux City. The sculpture is the small scale replica of a much larger sculpture. The large scale Sioux City piece was on display at one time in downtown Sioux City but was removed for various reasons. It will be put back on display in a new location on the art center campus later in 2013.

RISING FROM TRADITION NAVAJO RUGS 1900-1977

At the Sioux City Public Museum, in the Temporary Exhibit Hall, is a beautiful display of Navajo rugs. They depict the different styles and areas where the rugs were woven and sold from.
