Railfanning by Bicycle, 07/13/2019, Sioux City Railroad Museum, Engineers Tool Shed

The day these photos were taken the author did not ride his bike to the museum, but he has on many occasions in the past.

These photos were taken at the Sioux City Railroad Museum.

The railroad museum used to be the Milwaukee Shops when the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad, also known as the Milwaukee Road, was in operation. The shop was where maintenance and repair were done to the locomotives, rail cars and equipment as necessary to keep them operating on the railroad.

Today the museum houses a great many pieces from railroad history including steam locomotive 1355, Old Iron Horse. A lot of the buildings are still standing and are in use today for purposes of the museum.

This is the engineers tool shed. Today it is used as the ticket booth for the railroad museum as there is an entrance fee:
