Freedom and Civil Rights in Iowa: Introduction
This series is about freedom and civil rights in Iowa. It is a comparison of the 1839 decision the Iowa Territorial Supreme Court made and the 2009 decision made by the Iowa Supreme Court. The first part of series will be in two sections and are both about exhibits on temporary display at the State Historical Museum of Iowa. One is about the freedom celebration called Juneteenth, the other exhibit is about civil rights in Iowa starting from 1839. The second part of the series will be an interpretation of a comparison between the 1839 decision and the 2009 decision made by the Iowa Supreme Court.
