Standing Tall

Located on the Sioux City Riverfront is a wood sculpture carved by a chainsaw artists from a Cottonwood Tree that once stood where the sculpture now stands. The sculpture, Standing Tall serves as a thank you and a reminder of the sacrifice made by people during the man made flood of 2011. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, using a flood guideline book that has not been updated since the 1800's opened Gavins Point Dam in Yankton, South Dakota causing billions of dollars in damage down stream of the Missouri River because of their man made flood they intentionally caused. The question of why shall be directed at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
