Father Jacques Marquette
In 1671 Father Jacques Marquette, a Jesuit missionary, established a Mission in St. Ignace resulting in the founding of the town of St. Ignace. He had an important influence over the entire Straits of Mackinac area. Whether people today think his influence was good or bad, especially to the indian people of the area, the history cannot be forgotten or discounted. More will be shown about Father Marquette in other blog posts.
