History and Culture by Bicycle Part 215: THE TRUCK THAT STARTED IT ALL

Since the mid 1970's the truck that started it all has existed and was the first of its kind. What is that truck and what did it start? The truck is called BIGFOOT and what was started is the sport of Monster Truck Racing. Owner/creator of BIGFOOT Bob Chandler has created a fun family oriented sport and will leave behind a great legacy.

This blog author had the fortunate opportunity to see BIGFOOT in action at the Tyson Event Center during the Monster Truck Nationals in Sioux City, Iowa on Friday Feb. 18, 2011. It was an awesome show and though BIGFOOT did not win the races he was still the star of the show.

On Friday February 18 and Saturday February 19, 2011 there were very loud rumbling sounds coming from the Tyson Event Center in Sioux City, Iowa. For a day and a half Sioux City hosted the Monster Truck Nationals. This blog author had the fortunate pleasure of being there to see and hear it.

Amongst the trucks at this event was the truck that started it all, BIGFOOT. Were it not for BIGFOOT trucks like CHALKBORAD CHUCK, STAR MARSHAL, LUCAS OIL STABILIZER AND HEAVY HITTER would not exist today.
